EUROPAN is an initiative supported by nine European countries, which stages a bi-annual competition for young architects, landscape and urban designers. Participants are invited to submit innovative and experimental models of urban development. The topic of the 2021 edition of the EUROPAN competition was Living Cities. 2,148 participants from all of Europe, gathered in teams, submitted 677 proposals for 40 cities.

This book features the six winning proposals for the Austrian cities of Graz, Klagenfurt and Linz, presented in detail through photos, plans, and visualisations, as well as concise texts. Their focus is on architectural and urban design interventions and processes. They offer innovative concepts for the use of public space, holistic approaches to resource-saving construction, as well as cross-functional models for the use of space.

The volume is a treasure trove of trend-setting ideas on the future of our cities and the development of a new urban culture.
