Michele De Lucchi and AMDL CIRCLE: Connettoma: Synapsis of Humanistic Architecture

Michele De Lucchi (born November 8, 1951, Ferrara, Italy) is an Italian designer and architect. In 1975, he graduated with a degree in architecture from the faculty of architecture at Universita degli Studi di Firenze (Florence University), where he also worked as assistant lecturer with Adolfo Natalini, a member of Superstudio, from 1975 until 1977. During the period of radical and experimental architecture of the late 1970s and the 1980s, he participated in the most prominent Italian design movements of the time: the design collectives Cavart and Studio Alchimia, and was a co-founder the Memphis Group-the group of young architects and designers led by Ettore Sottsass with whom he collaborated from 1981 until 1987. The designs of De Lucchi furniture, lamps, and objects have been manufactured in collaboration with many of the main Italian and European furniture manufacturers, such as Artemide, Alias, Unifor, and Alessi.
